Marietta Memorial Visitation Policy

To All OB/GYN Patients:

You will soon be looking forward to rest and recovery, an important component of your healing process. In having your best interest in mind, we are looking ahead to your steadfast recovery with the support of our nurses and staff, and more importantly to you, the support of your family and friends during your stay with us.

As we care for you and our many mother baby patients on the OB/GYN unit, we have taken into account the potential exposure of germs and flu-like symptoms that come with a change in seasons and the requests of our patients related to visitors. Marietta Memorial Hospital, like many area health care facilities, continues to revise its visitor guidelines to meet this change

For this very reason, we have implemented a visitor identification process that allows for the safety and healthy recovery of our patients while permitting the support of visitors.

All OB/GYN patients recovering on our unit will be asked to complete a guest list that includes the nine individuals who will be their primary support. Upon your visitor’s arrival to our unit, those that you have on your guest list will be issued a blue bracelet.

OB patients

The nine guests who you list as the recipients of the bracelets may take turns visiting two at a time until you begin pushing during labor. Once you begin pushing, to assure your privacy, visitors will be limited to the two guests who are going to be present during your birth (guests are no longer permitted to take turns). Visitors who are not in the room with you are required to wait in the third floor lobby for the safety and confidentiality of all our guests and patients.

Visiting policies after delivery once transferred to your mother baby room:

  • The primary support person who has the second set of baby identification bracelets & a blue bracelet may stay 24 hours a day during your stay in the hospital.
  • The eight additional support individuals you have chosen to give blue bracelets may visit 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Siblings of your newborn may visit 3p-8 p.m. daily, providing they have not had a fever with a cough and or drainage from their nose in the last two weeks.
  • Friends and family who are at least 10 years of age may visit 3p – 8 p.m. daily, providing they have not had a fever with a cough and or drainage from their nose in the last two weeks.
  • Children under the age of 10 who are not siblings of the newborn are not permitted to visit at this time.

We appreciate the cooperation for your safety and the safety of all our patients. If there is a change in this policy you will be notified by one of our staff members.

Thank You in Advance,
Susan Knotts, RN,
Clinical Manager, OB/GYN Department
